Two Injured in a Collision on US62

Date of News Release: 06/28/2012

SUWANEE, KY: -- A minor injury crash just east of the US62 Cumberland River Bridge shut the highway down for approximately two hours today. A 1986 Chevrolet SUV pulling a trailer, operated by Michael McLeod (51) of Kuttawa was east bound crossing the bridge when a trailer full of lumber he was towing began to fishtail. This caused McLeod to lose control, and strike a guardrail. Glancing off the guardrail, the vehicle crossed over into the west bound lane of US62, striking a 2006 Buick operated by Thomas Jennings (58) of Eddyville. After the impact, McLeod's vehicle spilled its load of lumber on the roadway, and came to final rest blocking both lanes of the highway. Both Thomas Jennings and his passenger Barbara Jennings were transported to Caldwell County Hospital by Lyon County EMS with minor injuries. McLeod and his passenger, Mitchell McLeod, suffered no injuries. The collision remains under investigation by KSP Master Trooper C.G. Anderson. The Kuttawa Fire Department and Lyon County Rescue assisted Kentucky State Police at the scene.
