Date of News Release: 06/24/2012

(Lyon County, KY) -- On June 24, 2012 at 5:05 pm, at the intersection of US 62 & US 641, a 2004 GMC pickup truck driven by Jimmy Gass (49) of Clay, KY was turning north onto US 641 from US 62, when he pulled into the path of a westbound 1993 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Randy Stephens (26) of Princeton, KY.

Stephen was thrown from his motorcycle upon impact. He was transported to the Caldwell County Medical Center in Princeton by Lyon County EMS where he was later pronounced deceased. Stephen was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision; however, speed may have been a factor in this collision. Gass was restrained by a seat belt and was not injured in the collision.

Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Eddyville Police Department, Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County EMS and Lyon County Rescue Squad. The investigation is continuing by Advanced Collision Reconstructionist Sergeant Joey Adams of the Kentucky State Police.
