Corydon Man Arrested for Child Pornography

(Henderson, KY) - A Henderson County man was arrested on charges related to child pornography Tuesday after the Kentucky State Police served a search warrant at his Corydon home.
John W. Smith, 46, is charged with 5,440 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor, which is a class D felony. Smith was arrested at his residence without incident by the Kentucky State Police. He was charged and taken to the Henderson County Detention Center in Henderson.
Smith was charged by the Kentucky State Police ICAC Task Force as a result of an undercover investigation into the possession and distribution of images of child sexual exploitation. The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Smith’s residence in Corydon on November 27, 2012, by the Kentucky State Police ICAC Task Force and Post 16 units. Detectives seized evidence that was being used to distribute and/or possess child pornography and taken to the Kentucky State Police forensic laboratory for examination.
Additional charges may be expected as the investigation continues.
