Russell Springs Man Injured After His Horse Was Hit By A Vehicle

(Russell Springs, KY.) -– Tpr. Bryan Shepard is investigating a collision that occurred at 7:20 PM CST on Wednesday, September 20th in the limits of Eli on KY 0076. 31-year-old Chad Roy of Russell Springs was traveling west in the roadway on horseback when he was struck from the rear by a 2001 Chevy Suburban operated by 32-year-old Lyna Riggins of Russell Springs. She and a passenger, 7-year-old Tate Riggins, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision and were not injured. Riggins did not see Roy on the horse due to the dark conditions. The horse was killed and Chad Roy was flown from the scene to UK Medical Center.
