Foot Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Tennessee Man and Woman

(Columbia, Ky.) -- 33-year-old Ruben DeLeon of Nashville, TN has been arrested and charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st & 2nd degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Cocaine), Possession of Marijuana, Driving Under the Influence 1st, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault 3rd (Police Officer), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and other traffic related offenses. The arrest occurred on Thursday, April 19th at approximately 8:42 CST in a remote area of Adair County off of KY 0076 following a brief pursuit. KSP units were holding a Highway Safety checkpoint at KY 0076 and KY 0551 when Tpr. Chris Saunders observed a vehicle making an attempt to avoid the roadblock by turning around in the roadway and speeding away. Tpr. Saunders and Tpr. Nick Davis attempted to catch up to the vehicle which turned onto a dirt road where the suspect and a passenger exited the vehicle leading to a foot pursuit. De Leon, the driver, fell and following a brief struggle with Tpr. Saunders, was apprehended.

The passenger, a 32-year-old female, Danielle Renee Lambo Monastra, of Knifley, KY, was apprehended by Tpr. Davis and charged with Alcohol Intoxication. Both suspects were lodged in the Adair County Jail.

A search of the foot pursuit area led to the recovery of a firearm and cocaine. No one was injured and the case remains under investigation.
