Traffic Stop leads to Assault 1st arrest in Marion County

(Lebanon, KY) -- 32-year-old Frankie McGowan of Russell Springs was arrested Saturday morning at approximately 1:30 AM EDT in Lebanon and charged with Assault 1st. KSP Post 15 Trooper Josh Dicken initiated a traffic stop on the Lebanon bypass south of Lebanon around 1:20 AM EDT suspecting that the operator was Driving Under the Influence. The vehicle, a red 4-dr Ford, was operated by Tiffany Bruflat of Russell Springs, KY.

As Trooper Dicken was administering field sobriety tests, he noticed that the 4 other passengers in the vehicle had become aggitated and extremely loud. As Trooper Dicken approached the car he was advised by a female passenger that one of the passengers, Frankie McGowan had stabbed 28-year-old Charles Bruflat in the side. Trooper Dicken removed Bruflat from the car, verified the injury and notified EMS. He then removed McGowan from the car, secured a small Case knife and arrested McGowan. Bruflat was transported to Springview Medical Hospital in Lebanon where he was treated and released. McGowan was lodged in the Marion County Detention Center and Tiffany Bruflat was lodged by the Lebanon Police Department for Driving Under the Influence. The two other passengers, 28-year-old Michael Hadley of Jamestown, KY and 33-year-ol Kendra Dalton of Somerset, KY were charged by local officers with Alcohol Intoxication and also lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.

The Lebanon Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Department assisted.
