UPDATE: Armed Robbery at the Carter Caves State Resort Park

(Ashland, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police have arrested a Carter County resident for his involvement in the reported Robbery at Carter Caves State Resort Park on Saturday August 25, 2012.

Shawn Knipp was the on duty clerk and reported victim at the time of the Robbery. The investigation reveled numerous inconsistencies between statements made to Detectives and evidence located at the scene. The case was presented to a Carter County Grand Jury and an arrest indictment was returned.

Shawn Knipp, age 19, of Olive Hill KY was arrested lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking.

Armed Robbery at the Carter Caves State Resort Park

(Ashland, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating an armed robbery at Carter Caves State Resort Park near Olive Hill, Kentucky. The Kentucky State Police responded to 911 call of an armed robbery which had occurred at Carter Caves State Resort Park Lodge around 3:00am this morning. An unknown subject entered the lodge, assaulted the clerk and took money from both the register and clerk. No additional descriptors of the suspect are currently available for release.

Detective Jeff Kelley is the lead investigator and was assisted by Trooper Bryant Marcum, The Kentucky State Park Rangers and the Olive Hill Police Department.
