Theft by Unlawful Taking Arrests in Boyd County

Date of News Release: 12/03/2012

(Ashland, Ky.) -- On Monday November 26, 2012 The Kentucky State Police in Ashland received a complaint that a large quantity of cigarettes, valued over $500.00, had been stolen from the US 60 Exxon Station in Cannonsburg, KY. It was reported that two male subjects entered the business and as one male distracted the on duty clerk the other male would take cartons of cigarettes. During the course of the theft each individual removed cigarettes from the business.

An investigation was conducted and the following individuals have been charged:

Michael Barney, age 50, of Wurtland, KY was arrested and lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on the following charge:

1. Theft by Unlawful Taking

David R. Spradlin, age 56, of Ashland, KY was arrested and lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on the following charge:

1. Theft by Unlawful Taking

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Eric Gibson.
