TASER Usage/Boyd County Arrest

(Ashland, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have charged a Boyd County resident after an altercation occurred during a traffic stop. The incident occurred yesterday (11/20/2012) evening around 1658 PM when Trooper Shane Goodall initiated a traffic stop after observing the occupants not wearing seatbelts. Darrell R. Stewart, a passenger in the vehicle provided Tpr. Goodall with false information and it was determined he was wanted and had three active warrants for his arrest. Tpr. Goodall was in the process of placing Stewart under arrest when he attempted to flee on foot. Trooper Goodall engaged in a short foot pursuit and subsequently deployed his agency issued TASER. At this point, Stewart became compliant and was then arrested.
Darrel R. Stewart, age 23, of Ashland was arrested and charged with:
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree on Foot
- Resisting Arrest
- Giving Officer False Name or Address
- Execution of Bench Warrant for Courts (X3)
