Injury Collision Investigation Involving Greenup County Deputy
Date of News Release: 10/19/2012
(Ashland, KY)-- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating an injury collision that occurred on Kentucky 207 in the area of mile marker 10 in Argillite. The collision occurred at approximately 2023 hours today (10/19/2012).
Christina D. Nethercutt, age 43, of Argillite was traveling South on KY 207 operating a 2005 Ford Focus when she struck a Greenup County Deputy and also a tow truck driver with DJ's Towing.
Greenup County Deputy Matthew Smith, age 49, of Greenup was on the scene of a separate injury collision. Lloyd Caudill, age 43, of Greenup was also on scene and was removing a vehicle. At the time of the collision Deputy Smith had the northbound lane of KY 207 closed due to the injury collision he had responded to. While on scene of the collision Deputy Smith and Lloyd Caudill were positioned between the tow truck and Deputy Smith's cruiser when they were struck.
Christina Nethercutt was not injured and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Matthew Smith was transported to Our Lady of Bellfonte where he remains. At this time his injuries are serious, but not life threatening.
Lloyd Caudill was treated and released at the scene with no injuries.
Little Sandy Fire Department and Greenup County EMS also responded and assisted.
At this time additional details of the collision are not available for release. As they become available updates will be released.
The collision remains under investigation by Sergeant Erik Kouns.
