Grayson Woman Injured in a Collision on I-64

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating an injury collision that occurred on Interstate 64 in the area of the 178 mile marker at 2013 hours on September 16, 2012.

Kimberly Adams, age 51, of Catlettsburg, KY was operating a 2011 Toyota Rav4 Westbound on Interstate 64 and attempted to avoid impact with a large trailer tarp, which was in the travel portion of the roadway. Adams lost control of the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to spin and then overturn. During the collision Katherine Tackett, age 45, of Grayson, KY was ejected from the vehicle. Tackett was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV for head injuries and was treated and released. Two other occupants of the vehicle reported no injuries.

It was determined thru Trooper Boarman's investigation that alcohol was not a factor in the collision and all occupants were wearing safety restraints.

Trooper Boarman was assisted on the scene by Carter County EMS and Carter County Fire Department.

The Collision remains under investigation by Trooper David Boarman.
