Fugitive From Another State Apprehended

(Greenup, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland were called to a theft complaint on 643 Short Branch Road in rural Greenup County on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2353 hours. Upon arrival, troopers came in contact with Jonathan Keeton, a wanted fugitive from Mississippi. Troopers place Mr. Keeton under arrest, restraining him in handcuffs and securing him in the back seat of their state police cruiser.
While troopers were investigating the theft, Mr. Keeton was able to break a window out of the cruiser and escape. A short time later, Mr. Keeton was located and apprehended with the assistance of the Kentucky State Police Special Operations K-9 Branch. In addition to being charged as a Fugitive from Another State, Mr. Keeton has also been charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest, Menacing, Escape 3rd Degree, Giving an Officer a False Name or address and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree.
The case remains under investigation by Trooper Devan Cleaver.
