Follow up to Collision in Carter County 166 Milepost

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The identities of the parties from this collision have been released.

The operator of the 2005 GMC was Jason E. Goebel, age 40, of Nitro, WV, He was uninjured.

The three pedestrians were identified as:

Jimmy Yang, age 39 of Morehead, KY
Ren Yang, age 65, of Morehead, KY
Lin Hung, age 24, no address available

Lin Hung was treated and released from Cabell Huntington Hospital. Jimmy Yang is still in serious condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Ren Yang was pronounced deceased by physicians at Cabell Huntington Hospital yesterday evening around 8:15 pm.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Injury Collision Carter County 166 Milepost

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating an injury collision involving three pedestrians and another motor vehicle. This incident occurred on I-64 around 4:30 pm this evening near the 166 mile marker eastbound.

The names, ages, and addresses of all parties involved cannot be released at this time until family members are notified of the parties involved. The preliminary investigation revealed three occupants of 2006 Toyota Pickup pulling a U-Haul trailer had pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway and exited the vehicle. Another driver operating a 2005 GMC Savana Van traveling eastbound on I-64 apparently struck the occupants of the vehicle as they were standing outside their vehicle.

It is unclear whether the occupants were on the roadway or the shoulder of the interstate. All three of the pedestrians were transported by ground and air to Cabell Huntington Hospital for multiple injuries.

The collision is still under investigation by Trooper David Hobbs.
