Assault Investigation and Arrest in Carter County

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland have arrested a Carter County resident for several charges following a physical altercation with an other Carter County resident around 0119 AM this morning (03/13/2012). Paul J. Mocabee, age 40, of Soldier, KY was arrested by troopers at a residence of 34 Mocabee Lane Soldier, KY after it was discovered he physically assaulted William Davis, age 48 of Olive Hill, KY.
The initial investigation revealed Davis and Mocabee engaged into a verbal altercation and Mocabee took a knife and inflicted a severe laceration on the neck of Davis. Davis was transported to St. Claire Medical Center by a family member where he was admitted for his wounds. Troopers David Boarman and Trooper Tony Burch later discovered Paul Mocabee at an acquaintance's residence on Mocabee Lane. Troopers attempted to negotiate with Mocabee who became very hostile and began to throw things at the Troopers. Mocabee was eventually apprehended, arrested, and lodged in the Carter County Detention Center.
Mocabee was charged with Assault 1st Degree, 2 counts of Assault 3rd Degree (Police Officer), Menacing, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Appear (Bench Warrant), and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.
Trooper David Boarman is the lead investigator.
