Death Investigation Involving a Burned Vehicle
Date of News Release: 07/21/2012
(Hazard, KY) -- On 07/20/2012 at 2352 hours Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a report of a burned vehicle on an abandoned mine site on Mullins Branch Road in the Topmost Community of Knott County. The reporter stated that there were suspected human remains inside the vehicle. The Kentucky State Police, Knott County Sheriff Department, Pippa Passes Police Department and the Knott County Coroner responded to the scene and confirmed suspected human remains inside the vehicle. The remains were burned beyond recognition and no identity has been established at this time. The vehicle and remains were transported to the State Medical Examiners office for further examination.
