Armed Robbery Occurs in Knott County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On June 12, 2012 at approximately 03:20 a.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a 911 call of an Armed Robbery at the residences of Willie and Nero Patton. The Patton's are two elderly males who reside in the Mousie community of Knott County. The caller reported that the perpetrators' had entered the first residence with physical force and robbed the victim. The second residence was entered with a shotgun where the perpetrators' then assaulted and robbed the victim.
Preliminary Investigation led police to interview Steven Short, age 34, of Mousie. He was later charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st degree and Theft By Unlawful Taking (Firearm). Short was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center. Information gathered led police to Heath Slone, age28, of Mousie. Slone was taken into custody and transported to the Hazard ARH for treatment with criminal charges pending. The investigation is continuing by Det. Joel Abner.
