Knott County Fire Claims the Lives of Two People

(Hazard Ky.) -- An early morning fire on 02/25/2012 has claimed the life of two Knott county residents. A 911 call reporting the fire at 646 Hales Branch in the Red Fox community of Knott County was received at 7:15 A.M. and three fire departments, Carr Creek, Letcher Fire & Rescue and Vicco-Sassafras, responded. Upon arrival the wood frame residence was fully involved in fire and two sets of human remains were located inside the residence by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Joshua D. Bunch and Detective Billy Pollard. The names of the victims are being withheld pending positive identification by the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort. No foul play is suspected at this time.
