Assault Occurs In Knott County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On January 25, 2012 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a 911 call from Tim Hays reporting that shots had been fired on Hwy. 550 in the Garner community of Knott County.
He reported that an unknown male had shot the tire on his vehicle and wounded the passenger Timothy Hall and fled the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Timothy Hall was a passenger in the Hays vehicle when an individual fired shots at them and a round struck Mr. Hall in the hand. During the investigation it was determined that Ivan Gibson was the alleged perpetrator. Mr. Gibson was located at his residence at Larkslane and arrested without incident. Mr. Gibson was charged with Assault 1st Degree and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Detention Center.
Timothy Hall was transported to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center and later transported to UK Medical Center for treatment. All of the individuals involved in the incident were residents of Knott County.
The investigation is continuing by Det. Gary Sandlin.
