KSP Frankfort Post 12 Cram the Cruiser's with Food this Holiday Season Locations
Date of News Release: 11/21/2012
(Frankfort, KY) – You can help feed needy families for the Christmas Holiday by helping the Kentucky State Police in our "Cram the Cruiser" food drive. The KSP Cram the Cruiser food drive began Wednesday, November 14, 2012 and ends Friday, December 14, 2012.
The KSP Frankfort Post has parked a marked KSP cruiser on the grass at the entrance of the Frankfort Post 12 in Franklin County. In Spencer County, KSP Post 12 Frankfort has teamed up with the Taylorsville Police Department to gather non-perishable food items.
On KY -55 North of Taylorsville Kentucky, in Spencer County, there is a marked KSP cruiser and Taylorsville Police Department cruiser parked in front of the Country Mart. Anyone who wishes can drop off non-perishable food items in the Police cruisers day or night. You can also drop off food inside the lobby of the Taylorsville Police Department or at the KSP Post 12 at 1250 Louisville Road, Frankfort.
The Frankfort Post has also partnered with local Domino's Pizza stores (listed below) in our Cram the Cruiser campaign in Fayette, Scott, Anderson, Shelby, and Franklin Counties. Donation containers will be located at those Domino's Pizza locations to collect nonperishable food items. The participating Domino's stores are giving a discount towards Domino's purchases of anyone who donates non-perishable food items, either at the store or to their Domino's delivery driver.
After December 16, 2012, the Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post will take the donated items to local food pantries, shelters, etc. for distribution to needy families in the Post 12 area. The Frankfort Post provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford counties.
This is the Kentucky State Police third annual 'Cram the Cruiser' food drive. Food collection sites have been established at all 16 posts throughout the state and at the Headquarters location in Frankfort. The food will be distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations serving those in need during the holiday season. Suggested donations include canned fruit and canned vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices. Last year KSP collected 50,931 pounds of food.
