National Take Back Initiative at Post 11 Yields 101.6 Pounds

(LONDON, KY.) –– The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London, the Laurel County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy Board, the Laurel County Health Department and The Laurel County Unite Coalition participated in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative Day held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The collection point was set up at the Laurel County Health Department located at 525 Whitley Street in London, KY.
Local citizens were able to dispose of their current or out-dated unwanted medication either in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box.
A total weight of 101.6 pounds of drugs was collected at the event.
The Kentucky State Police will, in accordance with agency policy and procedure, store the drugs until they are turned over to the DEA.
