Whitley City Man Killed in a Vehicle Collision

(LONDON, KY.) –– On September 17, 2012 at 4:24 PM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 in London received multiple calls in reference to a single vehicle traffic crash with injuries on US-27 in the Parkers Lake community of McCreary County.
Upon arrival Trooper Shaler Jones determined that a 2002, red, Dodge, Caravan operated by William Leo Lynch, 94, of Whitley City, had been traveling southbound on US-27 when it suddenly crossed the center line, the northbound lane and the northbound shoulder striking a large tree head on.
Lynch was seat belted at the time of the crash and there were no other occupants or vehicles involved.
No autopsy is scheduled at this time and the exact cause of the crash is pending the findings of the McCreary County Coroners Office.
Drug and / or Alcohol usage is not suspected.
Trooper Jones in continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Officer King of the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife, McCreary County Coroner Daniel Ridner, the McCreary County EMS, the North McCreary Fire Department, and the Pine Knot Fire Department.
