Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest in Whitley County

(London, KY.) –- On Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 2:00 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, was notified by the Kentucky State Police, Post 7 Richmond, of a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 75 traveling southbound in Madison County.
The vehicle, a 2012 Honda Odyssey Van, was stolen from a car lot in Frankfort but not yet reported and was displaying a Kentucky registration plate that did not match the vehicle. The driver, later identified as, B. J. Starlight IV, 55, of Richmond, continued southbound until he exited the Interstate onto US 25W (exit 25 in Whitley County). The van then continued southbound on US 25 until a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) was utilized to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Starlight was arrested and charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1ST Motor Vehicle, Wanton Endangerment 1ST Police Officer (6 counts), Theft of Motor Vehicle Registration Plate, Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or more, No Registration Plates, No Registration Receipt, Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance/Security 1ST and Possession/Use of Radio that Sends/Receives Police Messages. He was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Trooper Delzie Kelly is continuing the investigation and was assisted by Troopers from the London and Richmond KSP Posts, the London City Police Department and the Corbin City Police Department.
