Traffic Stop On I-75 Lead to Drug Arrest

(LONDON, KY.) –- On Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 5:59 pm the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, Criminal Interdiction Team stopped a Toyota, Camry, passenger car for a traffic violation on I-75 in Rockcastle County.
During the course of the traffic stop officers developed a reasonable suspicion that unlawful activity was occurring and received consent to search, discovering approximately one (1) pound of Marijuana and one-half (1/2) ounce of Cocaine hidden inside the vehicle. The driver Joshua A. Ruch, 27, of Newton, NC was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana (8 oz to < 5 lbs), Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Tampering with Physical Evidence, Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess, DUI and other traffic offenses.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jennifer N. Starnes, 27, Conover, NC, was also arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana (8 oz to < 5 lbs), Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Tampering with Physical Evidence and Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess.
Both were lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.
