2 Plead Guilty on Theft by Deception in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Friday July 13, 2012 Robert W. Maxie and Brittani McDonald both plead guilty to the charge of Theft by Deception under $500.00 in Laurel District Court.

Detective Brian Lewis is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Chris Roberts.

2 Charged with Theft by Deception in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at approximately 4:52 PM, KSP Post 11 Arson Detective Brian Lewis and Trooper Chris Roberts arrested two people on the charge of Theft by Deception as a result of an investigation into a scam.

The scam involved the fire, on July 3, 2012, at an unoccupied house on KY 1228 in the East Bernstadt community of Laurel County. Robert W. Maxie, 53, of London and Brittany McDonald, 26, of London claimed to have lived in the residence and began seeking (and receiving) assistance from multiple community organizations. Detective Lewis contacted the owner of the house who stated that the two did not live in the home and that it was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Maxie and McDonald (his spouse) were charged with one (1) count of Theft by Deception, due to only one victim wishing to pursue charges. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact Detective Brian Lewis at 606-878-6622.
