One Killed in a Two Vehicle Collision on US 421

(London, KY.) - On Sunday, June 03, 2012 at approximately 10:30 AM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a two vehicle traffic crash on US 421 in Clay County.

Upon arrival Trooper Michelle Lunsford determined that a 2001, Chevrolet, Tracker, operated by George W. Gibson, 44, of Manchester, was traveling southbound on US 421 when it went out of control on a wet roadway and slid into the path of a northbound, 2004, Chevrolet, Pickup, operated by Joshua Gray, 20, of Manchester.

Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene by Jarrod Becknell of the Clay County Coroners Office.

Gray was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

Trooper Lunsford is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by officers from the Kentucky State Police, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Clay County Sheriff's Department, the Clay County EMS, the Lockards Creek Fire Department and the Big Creek Fire Department.
