Fatal Traffic Crash in Wayne County

(LONDON, KY.) –– On Thursday, April 19, 2012 at approximately 9:33 AM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a request for assistance, from the Monticello Police Department, at the scene of a traffic crash on Main Street in Monticello, KY.
Upon arrival Detective Parrish Baker, who is also a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist, determined that a white, 1994, Chevrolet, Cavalier, operated by Jerus Helen Neal, 54, of Monticello, was pulling out from Young Street onto Main Street when it entered the path of a gray, 2008, Toyota, Camry, operated by Roderick Tejeda, 41, of Monticello, which was traveling northbound on Main Street. The Toyota struck the Chevrolet in the drivers side.
Neal was transported to the Wayne County Hospital, by ground ambulance, where she was pronounced dead by the Wayne County Coroner.
Tejeda was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
No passengers were in either vehicle and both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Drug and/or alcohol usage is not suspected pending lab results.
Detective Parrish Baker is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by the Monticello Police Department, the Monticello Fire Department, the Kentucky State Police, Operation Unite, the Wayne County EMS and the Wayne County Coroners Office.
