One Dead After Being Shot in Clay County

(Manchester, KY.) – At 1:51 pm today (04/01/2012), KSP Post 11 received reports of a shooting with one deceased person on Blackey Branch Road in Clay County. Upon arrival, KSP Units learned that Jimmy W. Hoskins, age 47, of Rockcastle County, was deceased from gunshot wounds. Subsequent investigation revealed that the deceased engaged in a verbal altercation with another man. Following the argument, that man returned to the small outbuilding that was his established residence. According to information determined through investigation, Mr. Hoskins entered the other man's dwelling in an attempt to unlawfully force him to leave that dwelling. The resident shot Mr. Hoskins, resulting in Mr. Hoskins' death.
The Clay County Commonwealth Attorney's Office was consulted. No charges will be filed at this time. The investigation will be presented to The Clay County Commonwealth Attorney for consideration when complete. The investigation is being conducted by Tpr. Justin Oliver U/407, who was assisted by multiple units of the Kentucky State Police, The Clay County Sheriff&39;s Office, The Clay County Coroner's Office, Clay County EMS, and KY Dept of Social Services.
