Drug Arrest and Investigation in Laurel County

(London, KY.) -– On Tuesday, February 14, 2012 the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a complaint of possible drug activity at the Campground Apartments in southern Laurel County.
The KSP Post 11 Criminal Interdiction Team responded to the area and after stopping several vehicles for traffic violations developed information that drug activity was occurring at an apartment in the Campground Apartments.
A search warrant for the apartment was obtained and a subsequent search uncovered 130 1/2 Oxycodone tablets, 79 Xanax tablets, 728 other tablets, 2 handguns (with one being listed as stolen), $4,987.00 cash, and 3 vehicles.
Arrested at the scene was John N. Boyd, 51, of Corbin, charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance-1st, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Receiving Stolen Property - firearm.
Additional charges are expected pending Grand Jury action.
Trooper Ryan Loudermilk is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by Trooper Mike King, Trooper Michelle Lunsford, Troopser David Lassiter, Sergeant Lafe Owens, Trooper Jason McCowan and Trooper Lloyd Cochran.
