Three Vehicle Collision in Knox County

(Corbin, Ky.) ? On December 17, 2012 at 5:17 Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call of a three vehicle collision on KY 3041 (Corbin By-pass). Preliminary investigation indicates that a 17 year-old juvenile female from Whitley County was operating a 2000 Dodge Stratus traveling east on KY 3041. The juvenile lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center line striking a 2000 Ford Contour nearly head-on. The Ford was operated by operated by Dwayne Wilder. Archie Miller was also traveling west in a 2000 Toyota Echo behind Mr. Wilder. Mr. Miller tried to avoid the collision, but was unable to and struck the Ford Contour .

The juvenile was transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin for initial care and then transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Archie Miller was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center by his family for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

No alcohol or drugs are suspected in the investigation. The 17 year-old was not wearing a seat belt.

The collision closed the Corbin By-pass for nearly two hours as officers investigated the crash. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Jason Partin. Also assisting at the scene were troopers Jay Sowders, Chad Gregory, and Marcus Williams, KSP Sgt. Jimmy Young, CVE officer Wendell Hunter Jr. and the West Knox Fire Dept.
