Tremont Man Shot Several Times

(Tremont, Ky.) On September 19, 2012 at 10:11a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan responded to Redwing Road in the Tremont community of Harlan County in reference to a male subject shot behind the Pine Flatt Baptist Church.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Clifford Napier, 59, of Tremont, was shot multiple times in the parking lot.

Boss Saylor, 75, of Tremont, has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st, Attempted Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Mr. Napier was administered medical treatment at the scene by Johnson's LifeCare. He was airlifted near the scene on U.S. 119 where a landing zone was set up by the Wallins Volunteer Fire Department. He is in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time. The incident remains under investigation by Det. Kenny Abner.

KSP Lt. Ryan Catron, Sgt. Jackie Pickrell, troopers Jimmy Halcomb, Josh Brashears, James Earl Hensley, Jared Boggs and Det. Michael Cornett assisted at the scene. The Harlan County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene.
