Man Dies Attempting to Steal Copper

(CUMBERLAND, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police were summoned to an abandoned building in the Cumberland City Limits of Harlan County by Sgt. Silas Whitehead of the Cumberland Police Department, after they received a call of a male subject who was found deceased atop the building. The call was received at 8:40 am.
Kentucky State Police Troopers Jimmy Halcomb, Jared Boggs, and Rodney Sturgill along with KSP Sgt. Jackie Pickrell responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that Brandon O'Neil Hall, age 20, of Cumberland was on top of the old Big Lots building attempting to steal the copper wiring which supplied electricity to the building when it was in was in operation. Mr. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Harlan County Coroner Jim Bush. The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
The incident is being investigated by Tpr. Rodney Sturgill.
