Domestic Dispute Leads to Stabbing

(Harlan, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police in Harlan is investigating a stabbing that allegedly occurred from a domestic dispute between a father and son in the Catrons Valley community of Harlan County.
Troopers Joshua Brashears and Jared Boggs from Post 10 were dispatched to the incident at 12:40 PM after receiving a 911 call that two male subjects had been stabbed. Upon troopers' arrival it was determined that the father, Karl F. Robinette and his son, Frank Robinette had been involved in a verbal altercation which had escalated to a physical confrontation resulting in both subjects receiving stab wounds.
Both subjects were taken to the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital where they were treated and released for their injuries. During the investigation, it was determined that the father, Karl Robinette had assaulted his son with a knife. Karl Robinette, 52, was arrested and charged with Assault First Degree-Domestic Violence and Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon. Mr. Robinette was also charged with Assault Fourth Degree-Domestic Violence on an E-warrant that was sworn against him earlier in the day. He is lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond.
Trooper Joshua Brashears is in charge of the case investigation. He was assisted by Boggs, and KSP Sergeants Rob Farley and Jimmy Young.
