Fatal collision on US 460 in Pike County

(Millard,Ky.) -- On Thursday December 1, 2011 Post 9 Pikeville received a call of a two vehicle accident on US 460 in the Millard community of Pike County. KSP units arrived on scene and information gathered at the scene indicates that 43 year old Michael Lawson of Pikeville was traveling Westbound on US 460 in a 1997 Ford pick up. Lawson's vehicle ran onto the shoulder of the roadway and then crossed into the Eastbound lane striking a 2012 Chevrolet pick up operated by 21 year old Gregory Ratliff of Powells Creek. Michael LAwson was transported to PMC for his injuries and Gregory Ratliff was transported to PMC and later released. A passenger in Lawson's vehicle, 45 year old Debra D. Hampton of Pikeville was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Eddie Crum. Tpr. Crum was assisted on scene by Millard Fire Department, Elkhorn City Ambulance Service and Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts.
