Two killed in a single vehicle collision on Ky 1439

(Meathouse,Ky.) -- On Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 6:06 AM Post 9 Pikeville received a call of a single vehicle accident on Ky 1439 in the Meathouse community of Martin County. Preliminary investigation indicates that 40 year old Charles J. Sartin of Lovely, Ky. and his passenger 40 year old Diane Fuggitt of Warfield were traveling North on Ky 1439 when Mr. Sartin lost control of the 1992 Ford F-150 he was driving. The vehicle crossed the roadway, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.

Charles Sartin and Diane Fuggitt were pronounce dead at the scene by Martin County Coroner Joseph Mullins. This accident remains under investigation by Trooper Bryan Layne of the Kentucky State Police. Trooper Layne was assisted on scene by Martin County Sheriff's Department, Warfield Volunteer Fire Department, Net Care Ambulance Service, Martin County Rescue Squad and Martin County Coroners Office.
