Injury Collision on the Mountain Parkway (52 Mile-Marker)

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On December 31, 2011, Kentucky State Police Morehead received a call for service from Wolfe County Dispatch in reference to a single vehicle injury accident on the Mountain Parkway around the 52 mile marker. Master Trooper Joe Veeneman responded to the scene along with Wolfe County Emergency Medical Services. Tara Ratliff was traveling westbound on the Mountain Parkway in a 2007 Cadillac CTS. Ms. Ratliff took her seat belt off to pick up an item from the floor of the vehicle. Ms. Ratliff lost control of the vehicle traveling across the eastbound lane striking an embankment on the eastbound side of the roadway. Ms. Ratliff, along with two juveniles were transported to Morgan Appalachian Regional Hospital by Wolfe County EMS with non life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation by Master Trooper Joe Veeneman.
