Injury Moped Collision on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 4:44 PM Wolfe County Dispatch called Kentucky State Police Morehead requesting assistance in reference to an injury accident that occurred near the 50 mile marker on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County. Trooper Charles Bowling responded to the scene. Phillip L. Conley was operating a 2003 Kingtown Moped eastbound when his back tire blew out causing him to lose control of the vehicle and overturning on the roadway. Mr. Conley was not wearing a helmet and was transported from the scene by Wolfe County Emergency Medical Service to a nearby landing zone where he was airlifted from the scene to University of Kentucky Medical Center. Trooper Bowling was assisted by Wolfe County Deputy Gary Smith U/8. Accident remains under investigation by Trooper Bowling.
