Update to the DUI Collision on 460 in Morgan County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On October 18, 2011 at 6:15 p.m. Lisa Ritter was traveling westbound on US 460 near Bryant Fork Road when she lost control of her 2003 Chevy Impala. She then overcorrected, traveling off the right shoulder of the roadway where her vehicle struck a tree. Lisa Ritter and her two year old daughter, Alyssa Johnson, were both transported to the Morgan County ARH Hospital in West Liberty. Alyssa Johnson was then flown to the UK Children's Hospital in Lexington. Lisa Ritter was treated and released from the hospital with only minor injuries. Two year old Alyssa Johnson was pronounced deceased at 7:30 a.m. on October 20, 2011, by Doctor Zaglul of the UK Children's Hospital. An autopsy will be scheduled for later this week. After being released from the hospital, Lisa Ritter was arrested for being under the influence of drugs. She was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville where she is being charged with Assault 1st degree, Driving Under the Influence 1st degree aggravating circumstances and Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree. Additional charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation by Trooper Michael McPherson.
DUI Collision on 460 in Morgan County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On October 18, 2011 at 6:15 pm Post 8 Morehead received a phone call from Morgan County Dispatch advising of a single vehicle injury accident on US 460 West. The 2003 Chevrolet Impala was traveling West on US 460 and operated by Lisa Ritter of Piqua, Ohio. Mrs. Ritter lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected, left the roadway and the vehicle overturned on its side before coming to a rest against a tree. Mrs. Ritter was transported to the Morgan County ARH where she was treated and released for non life threatening injuries. A juvenile was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center and listed in critical condition. Mrs. Ritter has been arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence 1st offense aggravated, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Prescription drug not in proper container, and Assault 1st degree. Accident remains under the investigation of Trooper McPherson, Unit 633. At this time blood and urine are pending.
