Felony Drug Arrest in Fleming County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On September 29, 2011 at 10:54 p.m. Trooper Anson Tribby was on routine patrol on KY 32 and Cowan Road in Fleming County when he witnessed a gray GMC pickup driving recklessly. Trooper Tribby activated his emergency equipment and the vehicle pulled over. While on the traffic stop Trooper Tribby witnessed the passenger exit the vehicle and flee from the scene on foot with a large green bag thrown over his shoulder. Trooper Tribby chased the subject on foot and made several verbal commands for the subject to stop. During the pursuit the unknown male subject dropped the green bag in a field. Trooper Tribby was unable to locate the male subject who fled from the scene. Trooper Tribby was able to locate the green bag that the subject dropped during the pursuit. It contained 55 stems of freshly cut marijuana plants, weighing 17 pounds. After the foot pursuit Trooper Tribby returned to the vehicle and made contact with Jacob Hunt of Carlisle, Kentucky. He was given Field Sobriety Test and it was determined that he was driving impaired. Mr. Hunt was taken into custody without incident and charged with Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence, 2nd Offense, Operating Vehicle with Expired Operators License, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Failure to Notify Address Change to Department of Transportation, and Trafficking in Marijuana, More than 5 Pounds, 1st Offense. Mr. Hunt was lodged at the Mason County Detention Center. Sergeant Jim Bowling and the Fleming County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene to assist. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Anson Tribby.
