Injury Collision on Kentucky 7 in Elliott County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On September 25, 2011, at 8:06 PM, Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call for service from the Elliott County Sheriff's Office in reference to an injury accident on Kentucky 7 in Elliott County. The accident ocurred north of Sandy Hook. Joseph Paige was operating a 1996 Dodge Ram traveling northbound on Kentucky 7. The Dodge Ram exited the right shoulder of the roadway and went airborne. The Dodge Ram struck a tree and continued traveling airborne. The Dodge Ram came to final rest on top of a parked 2001 Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang struck a parked 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The Chrysler PT Cruiser struck the home of Johnathan and Lori Porter at 864 Kentucky 7. The Chrysler PT Cruiser came to final rest inside the kitchen area of the home. Mrs. Porter and her two small children were home during the incident. Mr. Paige left the scene of the accident. Mr. Paige was located a short time later by neighbors. Passenger, Timothy Czaplicki, and Mr. Paige were transported by Elliott County EMS to Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty where they were treated for injuries. Mr. Paige was cited for three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operators License, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs/Ect. .08 1st, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Mr. Czaplicki was cited for Failure of Owner/Operator to Maintain Required Insurance 1st. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Richard McPherson.
