Update to the Salt Lick Bank Robbery
Date of News Release: 06/02/2011
(Morehead, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Morehead is asking for the public's assistance to identify the suspect relating to the Wednesday April 20, 2011 armed robbery of the Salt Lick Deposit Bank in Bath County. On that date, a lone gunman entered the bank armed with a handgun and demanded money from the two tellers on duty. The tellers complied with the robber's demand and the robber fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Later in the evening hours of April 20, 2011, the blue jean denim shirt and the white/blue "UK" ball cap the suspect was wearing at the time of the robbery were located in a ditch on KY 3290, also known as Mud Lick Road, approximately 2.5 miles south of the bank. Then, on May 4, 2011, a large amount of money that was stolen from the bank was recovered in the same vicinity as the clothing. The clothing, as well as the recovered money, was both covered in red dye, as a result of the dye pack explosion during the robbery. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old with grayish colored har, a salt/pepper colored moustache and thin build. It is also believed the suspect was wearing a wedding band on his left ring finger. Anyone with any information concerning the identity of the suspect is asked to call Detective Toby Gardner with Kentucky State Police in Morehead at 606-784-4127.
