Assault investigation in Bath County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On May 31st, 2011 at 2312 hours Kentucky State Police, Post 8 Morehead, received a report from Bath County Dispatch in reference to a domestic in progress. Trooper Scott Ferrell, Trooper Keith Howard, Trooper Michael Fogleman and Trooper Eugene Robinson responded to the scene. Douglas Wayne Ellis had assaulted Michael Wayne Cox with a knife and had hidden in a crawl space at the residence. Trooper Robinson located Mr. Ellis and gave him several loud verbal commands to come out of the crawl space. Mr. Ellis continued to disregard the commands and Trooper Robinson administered one five second cycle with his issued taser. Mr. Ellis became compliant and was arrested without further incident. After care was provided for Mr. Ellis on scene and he was transported to Montgomery County Regional Detention Center. Michael Cox was transported to Saint Josephs Hospital in Mt Sterling where he was treated for his wounds and then transferred to the UK Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition. The Incident remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Ferrell.
