Death Investigation in Wolfe County

(Morehead, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Morehead are investigating the death of a Morgan County man. David E. Young, age 24, was pronounced dead by Wolfe County Coroner Frank Porter at the residence of Ronald Sallie at 124 Schoolhouse Hill Road in Lee City. While Mr. Young was at Mr. Sallie's residence, Mr. Sallie attempted to retrieve some medication from his safe. When Mr. Sallie attempted to retrieve the medication from the safe, Mr. Young struck Mr. Sallie in the head with an unknown object. Mr. Sallie then shot Mr. Young one time with a 9mm handgun. Mr. Sallie was later transported to the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky where he was treated for the injuries to his head. Mr. Sallie had eight lacerations that required fifty stitches. The shooting is believed to have been done in self defense. The incident remains under investigation by Detective Virgil Rucker.
