KSP Richmond Post Citizen's Police Academy set to begin

(Richmond, KY)- The Kentucky State Police Richmond Post will be conducting the annual Citizenís Police Academy beginning Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 6:00 P.M. EDT. The class will meet on Tuesday nights and is open to the first 25 qualified applicants. The class will be held at the Madison County EMS building located at 556 South Keeneland Drive, Richmond, KY.
Over the course of eleven weeks, participants will be introduced to a variety of topics and duties that the Kentucky State Police are involved with. Participants will learn about the structure of the agency, the basics of criminal and collision investigations, and the dangers we encounter on patrol, or while stopping a vehicle. Participants will also be introduced to the many divisions within the Kentucky State Police including the KSP Special Response Team, Hazardous Devices, K-9, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.

The deadline for applications is Monday, September 19, 2011. Anyone 18 years of age living within the KSP Post 7 District is welcome to apply. The KSP Post 7 District consists of the following counties: Boyle, Clark, Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Jessamine, Lee, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, and Owsley counties.
