Captain Johnson Promoted to Major

(Richmond, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police recently announced several promotions within the agency. Among those is the Commander of Post 7 in Richmond. Captain Edward L. Johnson, Unit 18 will be promoted to the rank of Major, effective Tuesday, August 16, 2011.
Johnson began his career with Kentucky State Police when he was appointment as a Cadet to the Academy on July 10, 1983. His first assignment as Trooper began on November 11, 1983 at Post 13, Hazard. Johnson was awarded a transfer to his home post, Post 7, on March 1, 1985. On May 1, 1994 he was transferred to the Kentucky State Police Academy as an Instructor, where he provided new cadets with his eleven years of knowledge and experience as a Trooper.
Johnson was promoted to Sergeant on September 16, 2000 and his assignments included the Academy and Supply.
On June 1, 2004, Johnson was promoted to Lieutenant; he was assigned to Post 14, Ashland and the Academy.
Johnson was promoted to Captain on January 16, 2007 and assigned to Risk Management. He began his assignment at Post 7 on February 16, 2008.
During his twenty-eight years of service to Kentucky State Police, Johnson has received three Commissioner's Commendations, among numerous other awards and certificates for his honor, courage and commitment to Kentucky State Police.
Johnson will begin his assignment as Major in charge of Technical Services Division, Forensic Laboratory Troop on August 16, 2011.
