Fire Claims The Life Of Jackson County Resident

(Richmond, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police are investigating a residential fire in the Blackhawk community of Jackson County that has left one person dead. On Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 8:41 p.m., the Pond Creek Fire Department responded to a trailer fire on Pond Lick Branch. Soon after arriving fire crews discovered a body within the residence. The Kentucky State Police, along with the Jackson County Coroner responded to the scene. The deceased was taken to the State Medical Examiners in Frankfort, where an autopsy will be conducted and positive identification made. No cause of the fire has been determined at this time. The fire and death remains under investigation by Detective Joie Peters and KSP Arson Investigator Pat Alford. The name of the deceased will be released upon positive identification.
