Two Killed and One Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision

(Monterey, KY) -- Troopers are investigating an Owen County collision resulting in the deaths of two men and injuring a third. Troopers responded at 6:02 p.m. to 11465 of U.S. Highway 127 near Monterey after receiving information that two vehicles had been involved in a serious injury collision. For reasons unknown at this time, the vehicle driven by 54 year-old Larry C. Conway, of Frankfort, crossed the centerline of US 127 and collided with an oncoming vehicle operated by 46 year old Daniel S. Ballard, of Owenton. Mr. Conway and Mr. Ballard died resulting from injuries sustained in the crash. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.

51 year-old Kimberly Ballard, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Daniel Ballard, was taken to New Horizons hospital in Owenton and is expected to survive. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Dusty Corbin, a collision reconstructionist, leads the ongoing investigation. Trooper Corbin was assisted at the scene by the following agencies: Owen Co. Life, Owen County Rescue, Owen County Sheriff's department, Monterey Fire department, and the Owen County Coroner.
