Accused animal hoarder found dead

(Campbellsburg, Ky) -- Investigators from KSP Post 5 are currently conducting a death investigation at 25 Allyson Lane in Henry County, the scene of a recent incident involving animal hoarding. Troopers responded to the scene after recieving a call from a family member who discovered 71 year-old Kenneth H. Smith dead. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered the body of the homeowner in a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Preliminary information indicates that Smith died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound while seated in the vehicle. Smith, who was recently charged for the recent animal hoarding incident, bonded out of the Carroll County jail on Saturday (12/17).

Detective Kevin Johnson is leading the ongoing investigation. The Henry County Sheriff's department, the Henry County EMS, and Henry County Coroner Jimmy Pollard assisted Detective Johnson at the scene.
