Body discovered floating in Trimble County

(Sulphur, Ky.) On 11/04/2011, investigators are currently conducting a death investigation at the Sulphur Dam located in Trimble County. Post 5 dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call at 12:48 p.m. reporting that a body had been located floating in the water near the dam. The body of a white female has been recovered and is being transported to the Louisville Medical Examiner's office for autopsy.

The ongoing investigation is being lead by Detective Steve Goodale. The Trimble County Coroner, Department of Fish & Wildlife, and the Henry County EMS assisted Detective Goodale at the scene.

On 11/05/2011, the body of a woman found yesterday (11/4) floating in the Little Kentucky river near the Sulphur Dam has been identified. Following an autopsy, investigators have determined that Mamie G. McCane, 70 years old from Campbellsburg, died from drowning. Preliminary findings indicate that no foul play is suspected.

Detective Steve Goodale continues to lead the ongoing investigation.
