Henry County Barricade Situation

Date of News Release: 10/18/2011

(Pendleton, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police (Post 5) received a 9-1-1 call at 10:17 a.m. this morning from residents at 30 Stonebrook Circle in Henry County regarding a distraught man whom was possibly armed with a gun.

As Troopers arrived, witnesses indicated that the man had entered a storage building in the back yard of the home. Since the building had only one door and no windows, Troopers were unable to see the man and were unable to determine if the man was a threat. Attempts to communicate with the man in the building were unsuccessful. Consequently, the agency's Special Response Team arrived to resolve the situation. Just under three hours later, the man was found dead in the building with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Post 5 investigators are currently conducting a death investigation regarding the incident. Detective Kevin Johnson is leading the ongoing investigation. The Henry County Sheriff's office, Henry County EMS, and the Henry County Coronerís office assisted KSP at the scene.
