Nineteen Graduate from Post 5 KSP Citizens' Police Academy

Date of News Release: 05/16/2011

(Smithfield, Ky.) -- Citizens from Oldham, Henry, Trimble, and Carroll counties have recently completed the KSP Citizens' Police Academy at Post 5 located in Campbellsburg. Nineteen people graduated on April 25, 2011 from the public outreach program at a ceremony and dinner held at Our Best restaurant located in Henry County. The twelve week program consisted of classes covering a wide variety of KSP operations. Ride-alongs and informative presentations covering such topics as crime scene investigation, forensic labs, and special operations are just a few of the opportunities the participants received. While the program is not intended to turn citizens into law enforcement officers, it provided participants the opportunity to become a better informed member of their community and understand the actual role of the State Police.
